Funding Opportunities: Funding Databases
Because of the sheer volume of grant opportunities available, it is useful to use a searchable funding database to narrow your search.
The place to start looking for State of California Grants is the state's Get Grants! Web site, which includes advanced search capabilites. For federal grants, got to Grants.gov.
The National Council of University Research Administrators also maintains a database of federal grants. Visit their Research Funding Agencies page to access the database.
Another recommended database is at Web site of the Society of Research Administrators International. Access the SRA International Grants Web Resources page to get started.
Of special interest is the state's compendium of links to California County Web sites. Counties offer grants, making them a good place to look for local grant funding.
All of the databases above are free of charge. We also recommend a pay service, SPINPlus, offered by InfoEd International. This highly intuitive grants-search software has a yearly subscription rate, but it can be custom-tailored to your funding needs in a manner that will save valuable time.
